Words From The Word Of God

MESSAGE 3 Segment 1: The Bible isn't just a book—it's God's living voice to humanity.

Evangelist Jeff Thomas Season 32 Episode 1

Send us a text

"Show me now thy way that I may know thee." Moses' plea at Mount Sinai echoes through the ages, capturing our deepest spiritual hunger. Like Moses, we stand in a world of confusion and spiritual famine, crying out for clarity and divine revelation.

God answers this cry not with silence but with Scripture. The written Word reveals His glory, character, and redemptive heart in ways that leave no soul untouched. When we open the Bible, we're not merely reading ancient text—we're encountering the living voice of God speaking directly to our circumstances, questions, and deepest needs.

This message explores the third revelation in our "Without Excuse" series: God's revelation through Scripture. Romans 1 makes it clear that humanity stands without excuse when we suppress or reject divine truth. God has spoken clearly through creation, conscience, and now through His Word. Those who "hold the truth in unrighteousness" face serious spiritual consequences as they deny what God has plainly revealed.

The Bible isn't just informative—it's transformative. As Psalm 19 declares, God's Word is "perfect, converting the soul... sure, making wise the simple... right, rejoicing the heart... pure, enlightening the eyes." Scripture doesn't just change our thinking; it changes us. It can transform the most wayward heart and set the most wretched sinner on the path of righteousness.

For believers, Scripture burns within our hearts, calling us into deeper relationship with its Author. For seekers, it offers light in darkness and answers to life's most profound questions. This isn't a book to be admired but a voice to be obeyed, not a relic to be studied but a revelation to be received.

Have you encountered the living Word of God? Has it transformed your understanding, challenged your thinking, and changed your heart? Join us as we continue exploring the breath of God behind every word of Scripture and discover the authority that makes the Bible the very voice of God himself.

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
If you haven't received Jesus Christ by Faith, as your personal Lord and Savior; I strongly encourage you to do so before it is eternally too late!!!

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to this another edition of Words from the Word of God. Thank you all so much for joining us today for this next message in our series entitled Without Excuse. So far we've looked at the two revelations of God to mankind. Of God to mankind. In the first message we looked at God's revelation in creation and how we are left without excuse to not see or to claim that we don't see and understand that revelation of God, to deny his very revelation. But also we looked in the second message at how God has revealed himself to our conscience, to our heart, as he has written his law upon our hearts and he has made himself known through uh hit that revelation to our conscience, and how we are also left without excuse. And we're leading here something. But today, as we begin to look at message three, we want to look at how God has revealed himself in his word. Now God is telling us by his word how he's revealed himself to us. But he has revealed himself to us in a remarkable, remarkable way, and that is through his eternal word. But now, as we go back, I want to look at the fact that we're without excuse and why we are left without excuse, because the word of God tells us here in Romans, chapter 1, and I want you to turn there. And then I want you to turn back over, hold your place in Romans, chapter 1. I want you to turn back over to Exodus, chapter 33, and that will be our base scripture for the message today.

Speaker 1:

But we want to look at a few things in review here in Romans, chapter 1, beginning in verse 18. The Apostle Paul writing to the believers there in Rome and Christians abroad, and even unbelievers, because this book has changed many, many millions and, might I say, billions of lives throughout the history of mankind, the book of romans, how it has changed so many hearts, brought so many hearts to repentance and faith in jesus christ. But the word of god tells you, beginning in verse 18, for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Who hold the truth in unrighteousness. That means they hold the truth. That means, in transliteration, they hold down God's truth. And I proclaim this today.

Speaker 1:

If we or you are denying any one of these four revelations that we will talk about in this series of messages, you are left without excuse and god's wrath is revealed upon your ungodliness is unrighteousness for holding that truth down, because that's exactly what you're doing. That is exactly what man is guilty of sinners are guilty of. They suppress, they reject the revelation of God how he's revealed himself, if they deny any of the four ways we're going to talk about now. There's many, many, many ways God revealed himself to mankind throughout the scripture, but we're talking about the main four ways through creation, through writing his word upon our hearts, our conscience, how he's revealed himself there and now. Today we'll begin to look at how he's revealed himself in his word. But we're left without excuse, because it says right here because that which may be known of God, that which may be known of God, that which may be known of God this is going to come back up in just a moment is manifest in them, for God has showed it unto them.

Speaker 1:

This is verse 19 of Romans, chapter 1, verse 20. For the invisible things of him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and God is so that they are without excuse. So that they are without excuse because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened, the word of God tells us. The fool has said in his heart there is no God. So you see where we're going with this. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into the image made like to corruptible man and to birds and to four-footed beasts and to creeping things. And if you read on down to the end of the chapter, you will see where God gives these unrighteous and ungodly people, the ones who hold his truth down, who reject his revelation. If you will read on verse 24 on down, you will find that he gives them up. There is a stage of their iniquity and sin and trespasses, of their iniquity and sin and trespasses. He gives them up to uncleanliness, to lust of their own hearts and do things that are unseemly. Then he gives them up again because they changed the truth of God into a lie and worship and serve the creation or the creature more than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Speaker 1:

That was verse 25. But for this cause God gave them up there, at the beginning of verse 26, to vile affections, talking about men with men and women with men, women with women, women with women and men with men. I'll get it right in a minute. I'm only human, so bear with me. I'm going to try to slow down here a little bit, because we need to really grasp a hold of this.

Speaker 1:

And then it goes on down here in verse 28, as they continue to deny him, they continue to change his truth into a lie. What it means by that is you're looking at the revelations of God, you're looking at the truth of how he has revealed himself to you and you are denying that very truth. Therefore, you're taking that and turning it into a lie, and it's a very dangerous ground to walk upon. Calling the God of creation, god, our redeemer, god, the Holy Spirit, you are frustrating the spirit of grace by denying and by calling him a liar that you're telling him what he has told you In his word of his revelations Are not the truth, Are not the truth. Now that we have that established, turn with me, if you will, to Exodus, chapter 33. Exodus, chapter 33.

Speaker 1:

Beloved, as God sounded his voice from Sinai before the, the fire of Pentecost, there was a man who stood in the presence of God and dared to ask If I have found grace in thy sight. If I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way that I may know thee. That man was Moses and the answer he received was not just a miracle, it was revelation from God. God did not give him. If you read on over in this book and throughout Deuteronomy, joshua Judges, you see the history of the nation of Israel coming into the land of promise. We see that God did not just give Moses a sign, he gave him his, and praise God his word.

Speaker 1:

Today we stand where Moses stood, in a world of confusion, deception and spiritual famine, and we cry out. It is a prayer in my heart that everyone is crying out Lord, show us thy way that we may know thee. And he has answered, and he continues to answer us, not with mystery. He doesn't answer us with mystery, but with majesty, not with silence, but with scripture written out, inspired, god-breathed, proclaimed on the pages of Scripture. But we must understand the Bible is not merely a book. It is a living voice of God, his love letter, if I may say his love letter to mankind, and the revelation of God and his redemptive heart in his son Jesus Christ. It leaves no heart. The word of God leaves no heart untouched, no soul without clarity and no listener without response. Leaves no listener the ones that hear it without response. That means you're continuing to reject it.

Speaker 1:

And what did Paul tell us there in Romans, chapter 1? And what did Paul tell us there in Romans, chapter 1? The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness Because when they knew God they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful. Think how unthankful you are to deny the very revelation of God in his word, how he's revealed himself to us through his word, how through his word we can learn, and we'll get into that in a moment. But God's voice speaks loudly and it is every listener, goes out to every listener's heart, that there there must be a response and there must be a, an acceptance of his word, acceptance of his revelation.

Speaker 1:

Now let us now behold the glory of god revealed in his word. Turn with me, as if you're not already there. Turn to exodus 33, and we'll begin reading there. I'll give you a moment to turn over there as we enter into this study today, we're going to pick up reading there in verse 11, and we're going to read down through verse 29,. Excuse me, verse 19,. Excuse me, verse 11 through 19. Y'all bear with me. I'm having a little trouble with my memory, so just bear with me as we study this. Pray for me that the Lord will give me clarity and wisdom, and anointing to continue speaking this message, because it's very, very, very powerful. We won't get through the whole message today, but we're going to have about three different segments on this because we just can't hydroplane through this. This is significant. So let us now behold the glory of God revealed in his word. The written word reveals the glory and character of God. Read with me, if you will, verse 11 of Exodus, chapter 33.

Speaker 1:

And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend, and he turned again into the camp, but his servant, joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. And Moses said unto the Lord listen to these beautiful words. See, thou sayest unto me, bring up this people, and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. He said and thou hast also found grace, unmerited favor in my sight. Now, therefore, I pray thee. Moses says Now, therefore, I pray thee if I have found grace in thy sight. Show me now thy way that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said my presence shall go with thee and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him If thy presence go not with me, moses, speaking unto the Lord, if thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence into the promised land.

Speaker 1:

Where he's referring to, we're at the base of Mount Sinai, or Mount Horeb is just referred to here in the King James Version, but Mount Horeb and Mount Sinai are the same thing. So, as God's voice is thundering here, this is the conversation that's going on. The people have had Aaron to forge a golden calf and Moses came down with the tablets, with the of the 10, with the 10 commandments written by the finger of God, and he saw the worship of the people of the golden cap and he broke the law. So we have the broken law here. But as this is where we pick up, moses has gone back in and he's interceding for the people with the Lord and he says in verse 16, he says For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight, is it not in that thou goest with us?

Speaker 1:

So shall we be separated, set apart. I love that. So shall we be set apart, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. And the lord said unto moses I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken for. Thou hast found grace in my sight and I know thee by name. Second time he said that. And he said I beseech thee, show me thy glory and the Lord. And he said I will make all my goodness pass before thee and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee and will be gracious. To whom I will be gracious and I will show mercy? On whom I will show mercy? May the Lord bless the reading of this word to our hearts.

Speaker 1:

This began where Moses stood on holy ground pleading with God. He says Now, therefore, I pray thee. If I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way that I may know thee. Grace in thy sight, show me now thy way that I may know thee. And then God tells him I will make my goodness pass before thee. I will proclaim the name of the Lord, all capital letters, l-o-r-d. That means Jehovah. That is his name, jehovah, the name of the Lord. Before thee. I will declare it.

Speaker 1:

God didn't just give Moses a vague impression when Moses asked If I have found grace in thy sight, show me thy way, show me thy character, show me thy manner. It's basically what that word refers to. That phrase, thy way, refers to God's character, his being, his person, his attribute. God, in answer to this, didn't just give Moses a vague impression, because if we read, continue on through this journey up until Moses dies, before the second generation entered into the promised land, we will find that God revealed himself in his nature, in his graciousness, in his long suffering, in his abundance and in goodness and truth, always revealed this to Moses. This is what the written word does for us today. It proclaims the name of the Lord, it reveals his heart, it shows us his ways and it definitely tells us of his goodness.

Speaker 1:

The word of God tells us in Psalm, chapter 19, verse 7 and 8, the law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Thank God for that. In my case I don't know about you the statutes of the Lord are right rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes Praise God. The word of God is not just informative, it is transformative. It converts, it enlightens, it rejoices and sanctifies the soul. It can set the most wretched and wayward heart on the path of repentance and faith in Christ and righteousness. It can transform the worst hell-bound sinner into a child of the Most High God, set apart for his plans and purposes. The Word of God, my friends, speaks loudly to us. The revelation of God, my friends, speaks loudly to us. The revelation of God.

Speaker 1:

Now, this will be the segment A of message three, as we continue on. But I want to say this in closing To every soul do you long to know him, do you long to have a relationship with him? And that's what it means by knowing him, having a relationship, knowing his attributes, his character, and we'll get into this as we go, as we look at the names of Jehovah later on in the message. But you must understand if you're longing. His word is open, his heart is revealed. Come to the scriptures, not as a scholar, but as a seeker To the lost. God has spoken. Will you listen? Will you come To the believer? Let your heart tremble again, Let your soul burn again. The word is not silent, it is alive and it is calling you into a deeper relationship with the Lord. Every time you open it up and the Holy Spirit brings the words to life right off the page of the text.

Speaker 1:

This is not a book to be admired.

Speaker 1:

It's a voice to be obeyed.

Speaker 1:

This is not a relic, a historical relic to be studied.

Speaker 1:

It is a revelation to be received. The word of God tells us, psalm 119, 130,. The entrance of thy words giveth light. It giveth understanding unto the simple. Praise God for that, because I'm the most simple person that had probably ever lived. I praise God that he made his ways known to me, and he still does every day when I go into his word. Sinner, friend, if you are sitting in darkness, let me help you to understand that the light of his word can flood into that darkness.

Speaker 1:

And won't you let the voice of God silence every lie of the world? Silence every lie from the enemy Satan, because he'll tell you in a heartbeat. He will lie to you and say it is not the truth. He will question, bring in the question, as he did with Eve in the Garden of Eden the accuracy and the authority of God's word, and he will do this. But God's word silences every lie.

Speaker 1:

Let the truth of Scripture awaken your soul to the greatness of his mercy and to the beautifulness of his holiness. Let every heart cry out with moses show me now thy way that I may know thee, and let every soul respond with trembling joy, saying thy word is very pure, therefore thy servant loveth it. In this first glimpse, we've seen the glory of God revealed in his word. But now we must ask where did the word come from, how can we trust it and what makes it divine? In our next message, in this next segment, we will uncover the breath of God behind every word of Scripture, the miracle of inspiration, the proof of divine origin and the authority that makes the Bible the very voice of God. Join with me as we go deeper into the mystery and majesty of God's breathed word, his revelation to mankind through his God-breathed word. Thank you for joining us today and I look so forward to the next time that we can share in a word from the word of God. God bless you all.
